Educational Background

Ms. Wong began her educational journey in colleges in Hong Kong and Australia, later pursuing studies at UCLA and Cal State LA. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a Master’s in Math Education, and a teaching credential.

Impact in the Classroom

Ms. Wong started her classroom teaching career over three decades ago. In 2007, she expanded her focus to after-school problem-solving classes and competition preparation. She has taught in several local school districts, including Arcadia Unified, San Marino Unified, and Temple City Unified, specializing in high school Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2.

Beyond the classroom, Ms. Wong has led math clubs, guiding her MathCounts team to the State Level and coaching her Purple Comet Math Meet team to a first-place victory in California.

Passion for Math Competitions

An advocate for math competitions, Ms. Wong has hosted and administered numerous national and international events. Some of these include Math Olympiads (MOEMS), Noetic Learning Math Contest, Math Kangaroo, AMC, MathCounts, and Purple Comet. Many of her students have earned top rankings, with some even achieving perfect scores.

Her students consistently perform well academically, with several achieving perfect scores on the SAT math section and gaining admission to prestigious universities such as UCLA, UC Berkeley, Stanford, and Georgia Tech.

Other Roles in Education

In addition to her classroom work, Ms. Wong serves as a Math Kangaroo State Director, a curriculum writer, and the founder of the Number Tournament. Her dedication to promoting math education and competition excellence has left a lasting impact on her students and the math community at large.
